About Me

Hi! If you’ve come to this page chances are it’s because you want to know a little bit more about me, and why I started this blog. I’ll try to deliver that and hopefully not bore you too much in the process. ;)

For as far back as I can remember I’ve always had a HUGE sweet tooth. I even have videos of me at the age of 4, on Easter morning, eating too much candy, or at least what my parents deemed to be too much, and my dad having to confiscate some of it so I wouldn’t get a tummy ache (which happened on more than one occasion).
I’ve also had a love for food in general for many years now. It’s one of the focal points of so many events in our lives; holidays, birthdays, weddings, baby showers, graduation parties, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and countless other social gatherings. It’s also no longer about food just tasting good, it’s about how it’s presented as well. I have come to appreciate this aspect of it too, especially after seeing how much creativity goes into making both an appetizing and visually appealing piece of art. Food has become another way for us to express feelings, thoughts and ideas. For me, being able to do that, using a canvas that is the center of so much of our lives, is both thrilling and rewarding. I love seeing the smiles that it brings to people’s faces. What made me realize that baking was such a passion of mine was that no matter how much work I had to do, it was always worth it in the end because of the enjoyment other people got out of it.
So when I finally had an excuse so make something above and beyond a typical cake (because who doesn’t want to make something special for their niece or nephew?) I decided to jump on it. And when I surprised myself with what I was able to accomplish with such little practice, I realized it was time to see what I can do with my talents when I commit to learning everything I can about cake decorating. This will be my journey through learning how to create edible arts (hence the name Baking Edible Art). Hopefully it provides you with a little entertainment, a few laughs, or maybe even some tips for your own masterpieces.
Bon appétit!

Note: This blog is a work-in-progress so bear with me while I get it looking as great as my awesome cake designs (with the help of my ever so thoughtful genius and creative boyfriend, Steve)
